Job Summary:
The Practice Manager plays a key role in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and professional operation of the law firm’s daily business activities. This includes managing administrative, financial, and HR functions, supporting lawyers with practice management tasks, and improving operational processes to enhance productivity and client service. The role requires a balance of strategic planning and hands-on management within the legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the firm’s daily administrative operations and ensure smooth workflow across all departments.
- Manage financial activities, including budgeting, billing, payroll, and expense tracking.
- Support partners and associates with scheduling, client coordination, and case management systems.
- Supervise support staff such as legal secretaries, receptionists, and office administrators.
- Implement policies, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Handle HR functions — including recruitment, onboarding, and employee performance management.
- Ensure adherence to professional and ethical standards within the firm.
- Oversee vendor management, office maintenance, and technology support coordination.
- Collaborate with partners to plan strategic growth, business development, and client service initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Law, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 5–10 years of experience in operations, administration, or management — ideally within a law firm or professional services firm.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with legal practice management systems and software.
- Sound understanding of law firm billing, accounting, and HR processes.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience as a Law Practice Manager or Office Manager in a legal or consulting environment.
- Experience with CRM, document management, and time-tracking tools used in legal practices.
- Proven record in team leadership and operational process improvement.
